Infant dies after being left in parked car all day

KUALA LUMPUR: An eight-month-old girl died after being left in a car for several hours here.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the incident occurred just before 6pm on Thursday (Oct 5).

"We received information from the medical officer of Hospital Chanselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM that the infant was brought in unconscious from the hospital parking lot.

"The victim died on the same day," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 6).

He said investigations revealed that at around 7.20am that day, the victim's mother, a doctor at the hospital, had placed her daughter in the rear passenger seat to send her to a nursery.

"The mother, however, did not drop off the child and went straight to work under the assumption that her daughter had already been sent to the nursery.

"She only realised that her daughter was still in the car when her husband called in the evening to say that their daughter had not been sent to the nursery," he said.

ACP Zam Halim said the case was being investigated under Section 31 (1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence.

He said a statement will be taken from the mother after the child's funeral.

Those with information on the case can contact the Cheras police hotline at 03-9284 5050/ 03-9284 5051 or the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999.

Why do moms kill their children?

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — In Raijon Daniels’s short eight years of life, his mother, Teresa Moses, of Richmond, Calif., beat, starved and washed him with chemicals and high-pressure hoses.
In 2009, Judith Williams drove her 16-year-old son to the top of Mount Diablo State Park, shot him in the back and head, and then turned the .357 revolver on herself.
And in April, Ashley Newton, a young San Jose mother, was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing her 7-month-old son in a Livermore, Calif., park.
Maternal filicide — mothers killing their own children — is rare, experts say, but each time it occurs, the crime raises the question: How could it happen?

Good luck to the patients receiving treatment from this doktor. Does she work at an abortion clinic? :roflmao:

A similar case occurred in NZ a few years ago and the mother was also a doctor. They must have a lot on their minds.

Mother 'collapsed after finding child in car'

08:17, Jan 22 2015

The mother of an infant left in a car at Whanganui Hospital had to be taken back into the hospital in a wheelchair after she discovered her baby.

The 16-month-old boy died on Friday afternoon after being left in the car in the hospital grounds on a hot summer's day.

A witness who was at the hospital with her own son at the time told the Wanganui Chronicle a group of doctors went running to where the mother had found the child in the car.

"The poor lady, she didn't even make it up the steps," the witness told the Chronicle.

"She got carried in soon after her son was taken through the waiting room.

"She was wheeled through in a wheelchair. It wasn't quiet . . . she was clutching her chest and screaming.

"It's just a scene that I will probably live with forever."

Emotional staff had to wait in the public waiting room for news of the outcome, the witness said.

Police did not release any further details of the incident yesterday and said they were still investigating the death. The mother had intended to drop the child at a nearby early learning centre that morning.

It was only later that the mother realised the toddler was in her car.

She did not usually take the child to the centre on Fridays, but the father was unable to do so that day because he was working.

The temperature in Whanganui reached 26 degrees Celsius that afternoon.

It's understood that when the mother rang the childcare centre, she was told the toddler hadn't been dropped off that day.

Police have not publicly confirmed the full circumstances of the death.

Police acting central district crime manager Detective Inspector David Kirby said yesterday that an autopsy was carried out on the boy on Saturday.

Other medical tests were taking place and police were speaking with the baby's family and hospital staff.

Police were not looking for anyone else to talk to in relation to the death, Kirby said.

"Any death of a child is always tragic," he said.

"However, it is too early in the investigation to comment on what happened and what the outcome of the investigation will be."

A Whanganui DHB spokeswoman said there was a "sudden and tragic death within the Whanganui Hospital grounds" on Friday."Our thoughts are with the family," she said.

The death has been referred to the coroner.

The mother should be charged with manslaughter. How can you 'forget' your baby is in the back seat FFS!
