Like i said before, why you guys keeping harping about MSK's escape, when in the 13 long years since DPM Wong became Home Affairs Minister, there has been Zero attack by terrorists in our homeland. Now tell me which Home Minister in other countries can claim to have this unblemish record. NONE!!
1. He's lucky- and for that, he's lucky. He should count his lucky stars, because of that.
2. In 2001, it was American troops who picked up video tapes of Yishun in Afghanistan, and alerted the S'pore government through the US State department. In that sense, ISD probably never knew. Again it was luck.
3. S'pore may or may not be as significant as say cities in Europe, US and in Bali and Mumbai.
In any case, stop patting your back as if to say that to prevent a terrorist attack, you just need luck. Luck can run out, and as such WKS would be foolish to remain complacent.
I think if the ISD is reformed to become a non-politicised national intelligence agency, our national security would be much better. Also, our army is heavily focused on cold war, state-to-state warfare, which is highly outdated in what is a guerrilla-type warfare, fought by people who holds strong fundamentalist religious views.
With these two main steps, Singapore would be much better prepared than now. Now, we are just coasting through by the seats of our pants. We should be more prepared than this, just in case.
