May ALL fellow Singaporeans keep calm & think RATIONALLY on such a suggestion from the ThreadStarter.
Singapore is Multi-racial society, since our Independence in 1965, thru tumultuous times of racial& ideology differences, but yet WE Singaporeans, thanks to our visionary Founding & Forefathers to give us our todays, thru our SACRED National Pledge SWORNED by everyone of this generation, passed on to the next, at EVERY attendance in schools DAILY, which is the FORMATIVE & critical ingredient for the progress & evolution of each citizen's life FORWARD in the journey of life...
There had been calls to replace ungrateful & highly subsidized educated citizens whom had no desire to work for less pay whom would rather work on foreign & offshore gigs contract with better pay, than to support National institutions such as POSB or DBS whom have to be pragmatic about costs & as it is a National bank & have to deal with overheads costing taxpaying citizens, but only to realize later that contract work while pays more, is NOT permanent & when foreign contract ends, thus those citizens angst against our ELECTED govt whom had to resort to lower costs employees early to sustain our own National banking & economic strategies for survival of those whom have no or little education - from banking clerks to supply chain workers. to make it big in the bigger pond of life Worldwide......
We leave NONE or at least most not behind except of their own choice & free will, a National policy developed from SUFFERING under colonial rule... a CRITICAL Policy that saw most citizens elevated whom understood our visionary & far sighted aims of our Founding & Forefathers...
We, hardworking taxpaying citizens, had proven that EACH can have sustainable life in Singapore, & we had proven to our neighbors Worldwide of what we had achieved & can do. How much food can one or a few consume each day? How much can one drink wine & not be drunk & stone cold the next moment? How many AP watches can one buy till boredom sets in???
We Singaporeans are a pragmatic lot. We believe in the golden principle - do not do unto others what one do not want others to do unto them. IT is only thru our sacred National Pledge that we can achieve such, & proven in our Civilization since 1965, thru hardwork & intelligence.
Thus ALL ethnic groups will be welcomed into Singapore, to SHARE in our IDEALS to spread back home. However, it will be to ALL ethnic groups & properly MANAGED, whom will be allowed CITIZENSHIP. It is the same balance that saw the success of HDB in INTEGRATING all ethnic groups into COMMUNITY groups, to support the progress & evolution of Singapore, as our sacred National Pledge was vowed upon...
Do allow me to share an experience with my colleague. He was a Captain in our Military. Over time, he met, fell in love & married a CCP China citizen, & ultimately, his mind was twisted towards the CCP rule, despite mine & fellow colleagues effort to show him realities of CCP rule. Eventually, he gave up his Spore citizenship & lived in China, as a second class citizen...such is the power of love... or perhaps lust?
The insignificant nobody me point in this meandering post is this -
a)Why help China citizens alone when there are other ethnic groups in our World in need of help?
b) Being soft hearted as We Singaporeans whom lived in sheltered lives here, are we being taking advantage of instead of being more rational & pragmatic to calculate the ROI, at least WITH fairness to all parties - local & foreign - concerned?
c) Language is often a barrier, even most Chinese Singaporeans would have difficulty understanding the loud & seemingly uncouth Chinese Shanghai, Beijing or Fukien provinces' lingo expressed, but expressions of love & cares lays NOT in lingo, but on the bed & daily life, & thus, there is NO need for Singaporeans to just rely on China to uplift our Singaporean gene pool when a wider ocean awaits us....as well as even Political concerns- eg, without a balance of Humankind's ethnic groups within Singapore, where would loyalties lay when troubles arrives on our shores?

Don't forget that thier parents have invested not less than RMB1 million on thier education from the day they were sent to nurseries. CCP is cutting investments on their kids "production-line styled education system" while thier parents thinking it's good investment keep doubling it. Blame government ? Blame Society ? China’s economy grew at the worst pace in five quarters as efforts to boost consumer spending fell short, piling pressure on Beijing to lift confidence at a twice-a-decade policy meeting this week.
Gross domestic product expanded 4.7% in the second quarter from the same period a year earlier, undershooting economists’ median forecast of 5.1%.
Retail sales rose at the slowest pace since December 2022, showing a flurry of government efforts to juice confidence have done little to reinvigorate the Chinese consumer.

The People’s Bank of China drained a net 3 billion yuan ($414 million) of cash via its medium-term lending facility on Monday, while holding the interest rate on its one-year policy loans at 2.5%, as the Third Plenum gets underway in the nation’s capital.
The twice-a-decade meeting of China’s top leadership has at times marked pivotal policy shifts.
