Manchester United Season 2019 - 2020

Why will anyone play clowns such as Fred and Harry Maguire every week without fail? Harry Maguire is like a clumsy donkey, who is more suited to playing Sunday football with some idiot pub friends.
Fred for his workrate. Highest among the players last season. I dun even know why they bought him in the first place. Harry Maguire is the air defence Marshal. No one knows how to time their headers well. The difference last night was Varane.

You must be a ManU fan then if you want your manager sacked.

Irony.
Unlikely to last. He has taken the club so far and fans appreciate that. His tactical nuance or the lack of it is quite telling. Liverpool used the same high pressing game against us for the past two seasons and the best he could show was a drubbing?!
The problems keep repeating itself and none of the coaching staff nor the manager is doing anything about it. It was just Spurs last night. Nothing to shout about the victory.

ManU got to play counter attacking. Unless the other team is sitting back then can front foot.

It is OGS style.

Support your manager as long as he is still your manager.

Exquisite CR7 goal, with Bruno's pin perfect cross
And thank god for linesman's delayed offside flag ruling out Spurs goal

OGS realized Dad's army strike force ( Ronaldo + Cavani ) is the best. he escaped the guillotine until next weekend.

I think OGS has gone though his Alex Ferguson moment.

Cant get any lower than losing 0-5 at OT to LFC.

Meanwhile LFC suffered from the euphoria after that win and drew at home. Got complacent after going up 2-0 and then 3-0 but had goal disallowed.

he has too many SAF moments. LFC should have played better. Brighton looked quite good.

Unlucky with the 2 goals disallowed.

Brighton got lucky. But kudos to them they took the game to Liverpool. Liverpool now having midfield crisis. Too many injured in that department. Didnt replace Wijnaldum.

Despite the win it’s paper over cracks. OGS leads a charmed life. Just when the gullotine is falling he pulled off a Houdini.

3-5-2 is a slap to Maguire. He is not trusted to defend. Sacrificing midfield attack for bolstering the midfield. It’s effectively 5 defence.

I will say Tottenham is missing harry kane motivation. He is just not there anymore. His heart is gone.

OGS still needs to go. Not amused nor convinced.

OGS always has this cheeky grinning stupid look about him even when he’s losing. U have to question the intelligence of this man.

He is a club legend scored many goals. Baby face assasin.

I wonder how come nobody call him baby face manager or gaffer or boss?

His old nick had come about, eons ago -what with his so youthful norske blue eyed looks (unlike other weary and stubbled players).
The latter bit was his forte as super sub, scoring late into the game.

Even his present countenance has the same blue eyes, nice guy look (but for his white crop)

Btw, my fave player from another era was the naughty frenchie bloke Eric Cantona. Eric often took the game by the scruff of the neck.

ok conte has gone to spurs. Still that doesn't mean OGS should stay.
Lindelof is out, he will be tempted to play his stupid 4-2-3-1 formation again and will end up another banana skin. At OT, Atalanta went to 2-0 before a lucky streak see them win 3-2.

I don't expect them to be this lucky again. Already the way he is doing things, he is brewing trouble with those benched stars. Obviously he wants to save his neck and field a team devoid of attacking ideas. He is fucking wasting the talent of Greenwood, Rashford and Sancho. Pogba looks like he aint going to play until he signs a new contract or remains as such when he signs for PSG comes January.

VDB is going to leave, Sancho is feeling disillusioned. Lingard & Marshal -what the fuck are they still doing in the squad?

Where is that midfielder ass hole in the mould of Keane / Viera / David Batty? We need one for Man Utd.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has verbally agreed to take over as Manchester United manager, CaughtOffside understands.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position at Old Trafford looks increasingly precarious after the team’s poor recent form, with six defeats from their last 12 in all competitions, including recent defeats at home to Liverpool and Manchester City.

Rodgers has impressed in his time as Leicester boss, winning the FA Cup with the Foxes last season and turning the side into regular challengers for the top four, and it seems only a matter of time before he lands himself a bigger job.
Sources close to the current managerial situation at United have now informed CaughtOffside that significant progress is being made on appointing Rodgers, though some hurdles remain.

Although Rodgers is ready to take over at Man Utd, CaughtOffside understands that his preference would be to wait until next season.
Manchester City are also admirers of Rodgers, having earmarked him as a potential long-term successor to Pep Guardiola, as we reported here.
A source close to the deal told CaughtOffside: “Brendan Rodgers to Manchester United…he’s agreed it, there’s just question marks over when he’ll take over. That could be at the end of the season, which he would prefer, but United are pushing for now.”

The Northern Irish tactician previously enjoyed great success at Liverpool and Celtic before his current role at Leicester, and it seems he’s now ready for the huge challenge of reviving this struggling Red Devils side.

Man Utd hit by REVOLT against Ole: Fernandes frustrated by lack of direction from Solskjaer and young coaches, Ronaldo alarmed by drop in standards and players unhappy with treatment of van de Beek, as club denies it has approached Brendan Rodgers

  • Man United are now giving serious consideration to axing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
  • The plan was to at least keep the Norwegian in charge until the end of the season
  • Humiliating defeats to rivals Liverpool and Man City have now changed things
  • Players, including Bruno Fernandes, feel they are not getting enough direction
  • Talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is now alarmed by how much standards have dipped

Manchester United’s plans to keep Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge until the end of the season have been thrown into disarray by the calamitous performances against Manchester City and Liverpool.

United were hoping to make a decision on Solskjaer’s future in the summer when any change of manager could be planned out. However, back-to-back home defeats have piled the pressure on the Norwegian with Saturday’s lame surrender in the Manchester derby following the 5-0 embarrassment against Liverpool.
Solskjaer’s position is coming under intense scrutiny yet again after a dreadful run of six defeats in the last 12 games, culminating in the 2-0 loss to City at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer admits United defeat to Man City is a 'big step backwards'

The feeling of optimism around the club in the summer that he could lead United to a title challenge this season has given way to a sense of shock and uncertainty.

Sportsmail can also reveal:

  • Bruno Fernandes is among the senior players who feel they are not getting enough direction from Solskjaer and his coaching staff.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo is alarmed at the drop in standards at United since he left the club 12 years ago.
  • The players sympathise with Donny van de Beek over the way he has been treated by Solskjaer after fans also offered the out-of-favour Dutchman their support when he came on against City.
  • Marcus Rashford played almost half an hour in the derby despite missing training for two days before the game with flu.
United were booed off at half-time and full time against City following a defeat that was every bit as humiliating as the five-goal mauling against Liverpool two weeks earlier.

The tame nature of United’s defeat has left Solskjaer once again fighting to keep his job after the club spent £135.6million on Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane in the summer to give him a squad as good as any in the top flight.
So far, there has been no appetite among the United hierarchy to sack Solskjaer having aligned themselves so closely with the Old Trafford legend and his task of restoring the club’s true values after succeeding Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal.

Co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward would have preferred to wait until the summer to assess the situation when the Norwegian would have been in the job for three-and-a-half years. Any change then would be viewed as considered with more time to install a suitable replacement.
They resisted calls to axe Solskjaer and appoint Antonio Conte two weeks ago before the Italian joined Tottenham because he was seen as a short-term option and too confrontational.
However, action may be forced on Solskjaer’s bosses if they decide that the former Cardiff manager is no longer capable of stopping the slide.

The United boss has a star-studded squad but is failing to get results out of his players

The United boss has a star-studded squad but is failing to get results out of his players
On Sunday night, United and sources close to Brendan Rodgers played down speculation that the Leicester City boss has already been approached to replace Solskjaer.
After the international break, United face Watford, Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace in the Premier League having dropped nine points behind leaders Chelsea after only 11 games.
They also face Villarreal and Young Boys in the Champions League with qualification from a relatively easy Group F far from guaranteed.
Doubts are growing within a squad of players who seemed so tight-knit on a pre-season training camp in Scotland last summer, encouraging senior United figures that they would mount a strong title challenge.
It is understood that Fernandes is among the players who feel as though they aren’t being given a clear plan by Solskjaer and his overgrown backroom team, with others expressing concern that too many young coaches are learning on the job.

Guardiola pleased with City 'lots of passes' in 2-0 win over United

After failing so miserably to execute a pressing game against Liverpool, United changed to a more defensive 3-4-1-2 that doesn’t suit the club’s ambitions or the attacking squad he has assembled.

However, Solskjaer’s tactics were easily dismantled by Pep Guardiola who used his wide players, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus, to pin down United’s wing-backs. Solskjaer changed to a back four at half-time but the game was lost by then.
Ronaldo was well aware when he returned to United that times had changed in the 12 years he had been away, but the Portugal star is said to be shocked at just how far the standards have slipped.

His frustration boiled over again when he was booked for a cynical late challenge on Kevin De Bruyne, having escaped a red card against Liverpool when he hacked out at Curtis Jones.

There is also a feeling within the dressing room that Solskjaer shows favouritism to some players and is too soft on the squad.
Questions have been asked about whether United’s work-rate would be so poor if Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp were in charge.
Harry Maguire continues to be selected despite a catastrophic loss of form which sources believe started after playing for England at the Euros. Luke Shaw, too, hasn’t been the same player since the tournament.
Yet Van de Beek continues to be largely frozen out by Solskjaer who is also ignoring Jesse Lingard. There are fears that Sancho’s career is stagnating little more than three months after his £73million arrival from Dortmund.

United players sympathise with Donny van de Beek and feel he should be getting more games
Van de Beek and Sancho came on as substitutes against City, and the warm welcome United fans gave the Dutchman is as close as they have come to turning against Solskjaer.

Van de Beek’s team-mates don’t understand why he hasn’t been given more of a chance since his £40m move from Ajax.
The other United substitute on Saturday was Rashford, but it’s understood the England forward returned from the Champions League draw against Atalanta in Italy with flu symptoms and was sent home from training on Wednesday.
Rashford did not train on Thursday or Friday — and stayed away from the team hotel before the derby — but was deemed a better option than Lingard or Anthony Martial when he was sent on in the 67th minute.

The decision mystified his team-mates and an under-par Rashford struggled to offer anything as United slipped to another chastening defeat.
Solskjaer adamant United 'moved on' from 5-0 Liverpool humiliation

Rogers is not the ideal choice. His Leicester has played some lousy football at times. Go get Allegri. Juve is not doing well. He can be snarled.

almost felt sorry for Man Utd not able to put together 5 consecutive passes against Man City.
