Manchester United 2013/2014

If REAL or Chelsea wants Rooney, they now have to cough up silly money for the player. Advantage MUFC.

Man U is dumb...................they should sell Rooney for 20-25m pounds...........they'll also save at least 10m pounds YEARLY in salary................

so total for 30-35m pounds...................they can get a younger and better striker...............Rooney is old, no re-sale value and fading away last few seasons..................

but then..............Man U stupid is good news for me !

You must be high if you think Real or Chelsea will be held ransom for a player who's past his prime. Rooney isn't Gareth Bale or Eden Hazard.

Keep your silly money and stick it into the bank account of Rooney.

LOL. After the Brits clear out at Stamford Bridge-Lampard, Terry and Cole, there is not a single Brit player in the first eleven. That's when Mourinho will ask his boss for a 50 million pound cheque for Rooney. He's yours.

You need not worry about that. There are some British targets in the summer and academy homegrown boys who are almost ready to slot into the first team. Rooney isn't the only British professional footballer.

Moyes shld keep his head on his shoulders...one win against bottom dwellers and he feel his dick is big enough to conquer Europe? I can hear the sniggerings of Mourinho and Rogers liao.

Moyes seeks Champions League glory

Despite struggling through one of their worst EPL campaigns, Manchester United boss David Moyes hasn't given up hope of Champions League glory.

Is it optimism or delusion?
Manchester United may be set for their worst ever Premier League finish but manager David Moyes has set his sights on achieving Champions League glory.
Having lost eight times, United sit sixth in the league, 11 points behind the fourth-placed team, Liverpool.
In the 18 seasons since the Premier League began, United have never finished outside the top three.
But unless there is a dramatic turnaround, the defending champions will finish outside the Champions League places.
Their only hope of playing in the Champions League next season, then, is to win Europe's top competition for the fourth time in their history.
"Everybody wants to win it and we'll try to do it," Moyes told United's official website.
"I never said we would or we can but we'll be in there.
"Teams don't want to play Manchester United. They know what it stands for as they have been successful. I hope we can play well enough to get through this round and see what happens next." Before they can start to dream of glory, United must get past Olympiacos of Greece.
"They are really good and have had a great record," Moyes said.
"They are undoubtedly the best team in Greece, no question about it. They also have a lot of Greek internationals who will go to the World Cup and it will be a really tough game." Moyes will hope that striker Wayne Rooney is invigorated after signing a new deal with the club, worth a reported STG300,000 ($A558,000) per week.
Rooney scored in the weekend win over Crystal Palace and with Robin van Persie and Adnan Januzaj in the team, the England forward believes United have plenty of firepower to hurt Olympiacos and any European opposition.
"They are all great players," Rooney said. "We have great flexibility in the team and I thought we linked up quite well.
"It is going to take time to see us all our at our best but, once we do, it could be a great, exciting time for the club.
"We also have Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez to come in. We have great forwards."
And Rooney said United would be ready for the threat posed by the Greek side.
"Tuesday is a massive game for us," he said. "We want to be going into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
"It'll be tough but we'll get the Palace match out of our system, prepare well and we'll be ready."

Hahaha... just because Chelsea did it against all odds in 2012, Moyes thinks he can replicate that success.

Mata is also cup-tied and cannot play in the CL for Man Utd.... good luck with that. ;)

please oh please..........let Man U play Bayern in next round............tolong ah

Manchester United will pay transfer target Toni Kroos £250,000-a-week to join from Bayern Munich

Germany midfielder's proposed Old Trafford wages are three times what he's on at the European champions - who have rejected his salary demands

Shaun Botterill / Getty Putting the earn in Bayern: Kroos would triple his wages at Manchester United
Manchester United are offering Toni Kroos £250,000-a-week to quit Bayern Munich and join David Moyes’ cash-laden revolution.

Wayne Rooney has just agreed a £300k-per-week extension to his contract and Moyes believes he can use his new financial firepower to tempt the Germany international midfielder to the Old Trafford giants.

The £1million-a-month deal is three times what Kroos is currently on at Bayern, who would want a £30m transfer fee for a player whose pay demands they have rejected.

Bayern know that Moyes is on the 24-year-old’s trail, but boss Pep Guardiola is not afraid to make bold decisions and Bayern have many alternatives, despite Kroos’ stunning recent form - including a goal in last week's Champions League win over Arsenal.

Moyes is buoyed by Rooney’s decision to stay and the backing of the owners ahead of what is expected to be a massive summer spree.

Another German midfielder, Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan, is high on Moyes’ wish-list.

Porto's France international Eliaquim Mangala is lined-up for the centre of defence, where both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are likely to leave big boots to fill at the end of the season.

Moyes also wants Southampton left-back Luke Shaw and hopes his money will talk louder than Chelsea, his main rivals in that race and Shaw's boyhood club.

Mind games by Olympiakos Michel?

Manchester United under huge pressure says Olympiakos boss
Olympiakos boss Michel says Champions League opponents Manchester United could buckle in their last-16 tie on Tuesday because of their domestic form.

United are 11 points adrift of the top four in the Premier League and the Spaniard thinks the pressure could affect them at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

"This kind of situation may weigh too much on their players' shoulders," said 50-year-old Michel. "We know United are not allowed to make any mistakes due to their position."

Olympiakos goalkeeper Roy Carroll, who played for the Red Devils from 2001 to 2005 said United "look nervous" ahead of the first-leg game.

And Michel is optimistic about the Greek side's chances of pulling off a shock win after they progressed through a challenging group containing Paris St-Germain, Benfica and Anderlecht.

In domestic competition they are also enjoying a good season. Olympiakos are top and unbeaten in the Greek Super League and have only lost twice at home in the league in four years.

"People say it'll be a very demanding tie and that's true. They are favourites, but nothing says we can't beat Manchester United," Michel added.

"Their Premier League situation could be an incentive to them or it could be a burden on their shoulders. We know there's lots at stake for Manchester United in this match."

The second leg of the tie takes place at Old Trafford on 19 March.

United are finished for this season - no silverware. Better concentrate on qualification for Europa next season and get rid of the deadwood.
Based on tonight's performance, I think RvP will be leaving too. Missed a complete sitter!

Really frustrating that the biggest deadwood ain't leaving

Its about time they look for a competent goalkeeper. De Gea is just not up for it. To be beaten so far out is inexcusable.

Oh please, De Gea is one of the better goalies in Europe.

Don't blame the keeper when your defenders are muppets.

It is okay to be beaten in the first away leg of a CL match. but at least get an away goal.

Man Utd can turn around the deficit in the return leg, but it depends how badly they want it.

No consolation, tall order and bridge too far. Not just gut feeling, but if we played like this morning kns.

DG is good, vastly improved from his error prone 1st season in EPL (with crosses et al). 1st goal was a deflection, with defenders caught out. I didn't see 2nd goal, as gave up to catch on my zzzz.

i certainly hope Man U can go through to the next round..............

then run into Real, Barca or Bayern................so can kana crucified mah..............

go Man U go............
