Man under probation for nude photo threat
SINGAPORE: A man who snapped a photo of his naked ex-girlfriend and threatened her with it was placed on probation for 18 months on Thursday.
The 20-year-old man had initially broken up with the girl in 2011.
However in January this year, when the man stayed over at the girl's house, he took a nude photo of the girl while she was asleep.
Investigations revealed that Lee was unhappy with the girl and decided to create a false Facebook account to intimidate the victim.
In March, he used the account to send the nude photo to the victim.
He also informed the girl he had sent the same photo to one of her friends and threatened to spread it to her boyfriend, friends and parents.
Wanting to look less suspicious, Lee then texted the victim, telling her he received the photo.
He later confessed after the victim told him she was at the police station making a report.
District Judge Ng Peng Hong also ordered Lee to perform 100 hours of community service and for his parents to pay a S$5,000 bond.
For intruding into the privacy of the girl by taking the photo, he could have been jailed up to a year and fined.
As for transmitting obscene material by electronic means, Lee could have been jailed up to three months and fined.
