SERDANG: A sales assistant, jilted by his ex-girlfriend, fired six pellets at her new boyfriend’s car in an apparent fit of rage and jealousy.

However, the pellets failed to cause any damage to the car’s window during the incident at about 11.45pm on Tuesday.

The man then alighted from a car with a baseball bat and was about to attack the boyfriend when policemen on crime prevention rounds caught him in the act.

OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Elias said the suspect, aged 25, was immediately apprehended, along with his two friends, aged 21 and 25, who were seated in the car to assist in investigations.

“We seized an air gun with 12 ball bearings after inspecting the car.

“The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder,” he said yesterday.

Supt Abdul Razak said initial investigations revealed that the suspect had gone to his ex-girlfriend’s house in Taman Bukit Serdang on the pretext of collecting some dog food.

He said the suspect was said to have parted ways with her about two months ago after going steady for 11 years.

“While emerging from the house, the suspect suddenly spotted the new boyfriend waiting outside.

“He then took out an air gun and fired at the man’s car,” he said, adding that the suspects have been remanded until March 10.
