A drunk man who hit his elderly father with a prayer sword and other instruments was jailed for three months on Tuesday.

Ho Kheng Guan, 51, then a security officer, pleaded guilty to causing hurt to Mr Ho Lim Swee, 84, by hitting him several times on his arm with the prayer sword, hitting his head with a statue, and hitting his face with his fist and two biscuit tins. The incident took place at their Woodlands flat on Nov 18 last year.

A Community Court heard that Ho had had four bottles of beer at the Kopitiam at Woodlands Drive 14 that morning after his shift. When he returned home, he vomited into a dustbin in his room and asked the Myanmar maid to clear it up for him.

The victim scolded him and asked him to do it himself. This angered Ho who then argued with his father, culminating in the victim slapping Ho once on his left cheek. Ho followed his father into the living room and attacked him.
