SINGAPORE: A storekeeper who paid an underage boy for oral sex was sentenced to eight weeks' jail by a district court on Friday.
Subbramaniam Karichiappan, 44, admitted to paying the 16-year-old boy S$50 for oral sex in 2012.
This took place at his home in Boon Lay Drive.
Subbramaniam, who is married, was introduced to the boy through a 21-year-old former colleague.
Another charge of having paid sex with a minor -- involving that colleague -- was taken into consideration during sentencing.
The colleague was below 18 at the time of the offence in 2009.
Subbramaniam asked for more time to settle his personal affairs before starting his jail term.
The district judge agreed to this and Subbramaniam will begin his jail term on April 11.
He could have been jailed up to seven years and fined. - CNA/gn
