Man jailed for bribery, driving without valid licence

SINGAPORE: A man was sentenced to four weeks' imprisonment after he was found guilty of driving without a valid licence and trying to bribe two traffic policemen.
Hoo Sze Kiong, 57, who is a hawker at the Boon Lay Food Centre, was also fined $2,500 and banned from driving for 30 months.
The court heard that on 4 February last year, the officers spotted Hoo driving his car in a reckless manner along the Pan Island Expressway.
They approached Hoo and found him intoxicated and driving without a valid licence at about 10pm.
Hoo tried to bribe the police officers by offering cash amounting to $4,939.65 to them. Instead, he was placed under arrest.
