KOFU, Japan - A 64-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his wife and daughter, apparently after a family dispute, police said.
According to police, Kazuhide Yamasaka, an unemployed man from Showa, Yamanashi Prefecture, stabbed his wife, Harumi, 51, and his daughter Megumi, 24, several times with what was believed to be a kitchen knife at his home.
Yamasaka called police at 10:10 a.m. Sunday after the two died at his home.
He reportedly admitted the murder to police officers who rushed to the scene.
Although Yamasaka was quoted as saying he killed them after a domestic dispute, police plan to question him to find out more details.
The bloodied bodies of the two women, who were likely killed several hours before, were found in the same room on the second floor under blankets, police added.
