Man found dead in sewage plant

KAJANG: A man reported missing almost two months ago was found dead in a sewage treatment plant in Taman Pasir Mas, here.

Liew Kuan Mang, 29, an air-conditioner dealer who lived in Taman Berjaya, Sg Chua, was reported missing on Nov 7 at about 3am after he went to the toilet at a coffee shop near his house.

Liew’s highly decomposed body was found by a sewage treatment plant worker at about 4pm on Thursday.

Police, including a forensic team, rushed to the scene after being alerted by the worker.

They found the bottom part of Liew’s body with the help of Fire and Rescue Department personnel.

The search to recover other body parts is still continuing.

Police have classified the case as sudden death but said they would look into all angles and wait for the post-mortem results before re-classifying the case.

Dead man’s family wants cops to act fast

KAJANG: The family of air-conditioner dealer Liew Kuan Meng, whose body parts were found in an oxidation pond in Taman Pasir Mas here on Dec 30, hopes that the police can trace the events that led to his death and quickly apprehend the culprits.

The family had reported on Nov 7 that Kuan Meng, 29, had gone missing after he was last seen at a coffeeshop near their home in Taman Berjaya, Sungai Chua.

Grieving father: Tin Soon in tears at Liew’s residence in Kajang Sunday

“My other sons talked to his friends and from a closed-circuit TV footage, we concluded that he was at the shop,” his father, Liew Tin Soon, 67, told a press conference at their house yesterday.

“I want to know what happened to my son after he went missing,” sobbed Tin Soon, 67, who alleged that the family was only informed about his son’s decomposed remains by some undertakers who called him.

Media reports said workers from Indah Water Konsortium stumbled upon the body parts while cleaning up the pond.

The family brought his disappearance to the attention of MCA public complaints bureau chairman Datuk Michael Chong.
