A 73-year-old man was charged with causing the death of a passenger in a lorry by dangerous driving and injuring three others in the vehicle.
D'Rozario Pancratius Joseph is alleged to have beaten the red light when travelling straight across the junction of Ophir Road and hitting a lorry which was proceeding straight from his left to right.
The impact caused the lorry to overturn to its left before landing in the middle of the junction, causing the death of Surjit Kour, 56, who was seated at the vehicle's rear cabin.
D'Rozario faces a second charge of causing hurt to the driver of the lorry, Madam Kalwanat Kaur, 50, and a couple seated infront, Mr Mukhtiar Singh, 79, and Madam Harbans Kaur, 78, by doing an act so rashly as to endanger life or personal safety of others.
