SINGAPORE - The police arrested a man for promoting public gaming and assaulting public servants on duty in the Geylang area.
The 32-year-old man was approached by police officers and he subsequently put up a violent struggle after he found out their identities.
In the course of his struggle, he assaulted the policemen and had to be subdued. He was eventually subjected to arrest.
The police are actively combating public gaming and other crimes in the area.
Anyone convicted of Promoting Public Gaming will be liable to a fine of between $20,000 and $200,000 and imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
Those convicted of Voluntarily Causing Hurt to Deter Public Servant from His Duty shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of up to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or all any combination of these punishments.
