SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a man, aged 29, for providing false contact information when obtaining loans from loansharks.

On Dec 6, 2012 at about 10.30am, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the man in the vicinity of Yishun St 81.

Preliminary investigations revealed he is a debtor who had used his previous residential address to obtain loans from loansharks.

His actions resulted in loanshark harrassment to the current owner's residence.

He is also being investigated for failing to report the change of his residential address under the National Registration Act.

Investigation against him are ongoing.

Any person who is guilty of providing false contact information to obtain loans from loansharks shall be liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months.

Any person who is guilty of an offence of failing to report a change of address shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both.
