Man, 24, arrested after asking girl, 13, for sex

SINGAPORE - A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the police for attempting to procure sex from a 13-year-old girl.
Police were alerted after the the 13-year-old victim and her mother lodged a Police report on Oct 28.
The victim got to know the man through a social media chat site around September, and he subsequently requested to meet the victim for sex repeatedly.
The victim's mother immediately brought the victim to lodge the police report on Oct 28 after she chanced upon the messages sent by the suspect.
Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division eventually established the suspect's identity and tracked him down on Oct 29 at a shopping centre in the vicinity of New Bridge Road. He was arrested on the spot.
Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. If convicted, the suspect shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both.
