Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz says Khazanah Nasional must take its own measures to ensure the survival of Malaysia Airlines.
KUALA LUMPUR: Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz has reiterated that the government will not pump any more funds into Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) and it is purely up to its sole owner, Khazanah Nasional Bhd, to sort it out.
“We have consistently said that this is the matter where Khazanah has to involve (itself).
“The ministry of finance will not be injecting any cash or capital into the airline through Khazanah, so Khazanah will have to undertake their own exercise to ensure the survival of Malaysia Airlines,” he said on BFM Radio’s Breakfast Grille programme today.
Asked if the ministry will be giving any guarantee to MAB and whether the government will close down the airline, he said: “Right now, we are not looking at any support from the government. It is up to Khazanah as the sole owner of Malaysia Airlines. I have never ever said to close down Malaysia Airlines.”

Yesterday, Reuters reported that Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent of Malaysia Airlines, has warned leasing companies that Khazanah would stop funding the group, forcing it into a winding down process if restructuring talks with lessors are unsuccessful.

Because Malaysia's government do not have enough money to support MAS for an extended period.

Commercial-wise, Singapore (Temasek) should also do the same thing to SIA. It is better to close down SIA instead of throwing more of the citizens' monies into SIA.

The government can always re-start the airline again, a few years down the road.

MAS??? huh??? Monetary Authority of SIngkieland?
Got the picture mah! More stewardesses unemployed soon.just one year ago, future seems so bright for the airline industry. Thank you xi jinping. 30 years of china's contribution to world economy wiped out in just several months. Nothing comes free if it involves chinese.

Why not suggest to them to close down the airport as well? No point wasting citizens $ operating an almost empty airport. No need SAF, Navy or AirForce also since there is no war.... etc

Other airlines will quickly fill in the gap.its what they call market led demand. Flights to London by BA, to sinkie by SQ, scoot and dontch forget, airasia still barely alive.no bail out.

SIA is a big portion of sinkie economy. Its the reason why many multinationals have their base in sinkie.
If other MNC is dependent on Singapore survival, then they should actually chip in with some profit and send it to government pocket.

Ok lah,,not say I support SIA,,as an international airlines,,,SIA is profitable and all in all,,,the customer service is quite good,,,when I was posted overseas,,,got ang mors, nips etc,,take SIA back to their homeland bcos SIA is safe, and customer service is good,,food also ok,,,I have taken other airlines,,ang mor airlines etc and so far SIA is better than them.,... SIA is now down in the dumps due to the lock downs,...if no lockdowns this will not be an issue...contrast that to m&d airline and heaps of other airlines,,,most of them are operating at a lost before the virus,,that is why to many gahmens,,its an opportunity to shut them down now,,,SIA is not having such problems,,,so have to see it for what it is,,,if the lockdowns are lifted and everything back to normal,,,SIA will do well,,,as everyone will travel again,,,

Only an idiot would suggest shutting down SIA! If the gahmen is able to help support the national carrier, by all means let it carry on. Once the travel industry picks up, the demand for travelling will be so huge cos everyone is dying to travel!

Only an idiot will say to support SQ. What the fuck do you know about it? Why should the taxpayer help SQ when they don't help themselves? eg. Hiring ex RSAF retired generals to run important divisions in their company. Like fuck, they cannot find better people then that? eg. they want to save themselves, they should retrench all their foriegn staff first and save the jobs for native born sinkies. They are not doing that. eg. after losing hundreds of millions $ on hedging oil prices who got fired? The CEO? any high ranking SQ execs? Not at all. The same fucks fucking up the company are still running it. And you want to throw in more money after them? If they are not cleaning house, then they should get no money.

Since SQ started from day 1, they have been profitable for every year. This is the 1st time that they have reported a loss in the financial year n you want to shut it down! Are u stupid or what? What the fuck do u know actually?
But too bad u can only kpkb here n there's nothing u can do about it. Nothing will change n the airline will still carry on in years to come!

SIA is one of the few Singkie companies that discourage the parachuting in of Scholars,,,its one of the more professionally run organisations in the singkie portfolio because Dead Fart did run it as a commercial venture,,they did have scholar generals parachute in b4 and got fuck up,,so got rid of them,,however under pinky,,it might be changing,,,

About the parachute,,it explains the high unemployment rate of PMETs in singkieland...many GLCs will only hire those who are deem as reliable or pap ppl,,that is why outsiders who are singkies are not welcomed.. as they might not tow the line

Added to that, Temasek needs to save face so they use the money that can be fruitfully used to help their own needy citizens, instead used to bail out SIA which for so long has been a millstone.

The idea to close SIA is brilliant simply because it forces everybody (shareholders, creditors, management, employees, unions, contractors, vendors, suppliers, govt and customers) to pull together without requiring a single cent of shareholder monies. But we all know whore jinx standard...buy high sell low.

The money used to bail it out can be diverted to the retrenched as support with billions left over.

I would say 5o% of the world's population can't be bothered about any virus.
Its the businesses which will be wary to allow their staff to travel due to safety and health issues.

When you put jiuhu m&d moslems in charge, what else do you expect except cronyism, bankruptcy and corruption?

Malays 8n glc's dunno anything about running business. The moment they become ceo, they think the customers should go to them locally. But if overseas, they go see the customers. One week travel, maybe 1 hour meeting.
