As usual he compares the rate to world average unemployment rate of 7.1%. Why didn't he compare the ministers average salary against that of the world leader and adjust to sensible & world average pay? If you want to compare the statistic, please do so in a fair manner and not selectively to hide your failure. 3.2% unemployment record is a fail result of this govt and going by the 1st world benchmark. So please don't boast your failure, come out open and admit you have failed Singaporean by putting thousands out of job.

Statistics dont lie, lies do statistics.
E.g.
Total work force in Singapore = 100000
50000 FTs, here with valid pass.
50000 locals and PRs.
If FTs with no job, they return home.
so no matter wat, you always have a 100% EMPLOYMENT for FTs. Therefore, the total unemployment is in fact much higher.
Mix with the locals and PRs, you have a better result in unemployment.
By the way, can someone enlighten me if they dont count in you as UNEMPLOYED if you are cannot find work after 6 months of unemployment?
The unemployment rates are in fact under-reported. People who are housewives, full time students, retirees, and unemployed adults who never bothered to look for job over 1 year. Foreign trash who have expired work passes but still illegally staying here is also not counted. That's why the unemployment rate seems lower than other countries as many groups of people are omitted. I think a better statistics to look at the the number of people employed per 1000 adult Singaporeans above 21 years old.
