A loyal dog has shot to fame after photos of him waiting for his owner outside the high-rise apartment building engulfed by a blaze in Shanghai, China, hit the Internet.

According to the dsqq.cn website, the golden retriever, named Jingjing, walked back and forth around the flaming building when the fire broke out on the afternoon of Nov 15. He refused to eat any food offered by concerned onlookers.

As the evening dawned the dog was seen shivering on the sidewalk. A caring firefighter took the dog home after his owners could not be traced. Photos of Jingjing lingering at the scene of the blaze were posted on the Internet in a bid to help find his owner. Touched by the dog's loyalty, netizens rallied to trace the dog's owner.One viewer recognised Jingjing as his aunt's dog. Jingjing took his first bite of food after reuniting with his owner on Wednesday.
