Company recently hired this fresh grad from a local uni. One look at him, and u got to shake your head. His hair is like Takuya Kimura (J-Pop style) and dyed light brown. But confirm not beng, cos he looks and behaves like a nerd.

So anyway there he was criticizing an existing report structure and saying "oh this report kinda sucks..."*silly laugh. So a few of us had to diplomatically say "oh you are free to propose, perhaps we can have a look". And that moron can't articulate or express himself well at all. Most of us scratching heads and balls.

To his credit, he is probably good in certain analytical work, but his EQ is dismal!

Boy...i will really think twice about hiring a local uni grad. :oIo:

Most MNCs I know prefers overseas to local grads as well. Just look at the ministars, most of them are overseas grad. As much as Singapore could boast about the quality of its local grads there is still something fundamentally wrong with the education system.

why are you using the example of minsters? These minister build the education in your country and then go to other countries and educate themselves. WAHAHAH.

So isn't it right that the country that they run, should people be moving out instead of staying in?

There is a management trainee in my company who is rather childish and uses Hello Kitty stationery. But boss said she is very smart and he likes her a lot. I commented on her childishness once but boss said she has just graduated and its "normal" to be a bit childish at her tender age. Its like telling me "she is only 21yo so what do you expect" right in my face.

That is indeed childish. I once saw a young female banker using a Hello Kitty organizer notebook. That was a clear warning sign that i cannot invest with her.

That is indeed why I used the ministars as an example. The ministars themselves do not value its own education system.

hi there

1. cool guy, i have had some fair share with local uni individuals.
2. first ? is whether "got ot to do or not"
3. 2nd ? is "working hours" definitely very relunctant to work later than the regular work hours.
4. 3rd item: criticise almost everything in the current system of work but offers no "intelligient" alternatives or what!
5. of course, i being the hod and not diplomatic, fire back for his/her suggestions.
6. stupid remarks - i fire back, half-pail filled answers - i fire back, no response - i fire back.
7. honest, most of them are just full of themselves and pretty theory-oriented and booksmart.
8. come to eq and managing the work environment & attitude - a big fat ZERO!

they shld go attend those corporate grooming course...

hi there

1. no use! looks good but "empty" up there!
2. only knows how to make noise and never reflects on themselves.
3. pretty "spoon-fed" too like holding a mouse.

i had recruited a few due to the job credit.
now all left as really cant stand them. to be honest i rather recruit the poly.

1.they expect pay like $2500 for a basic business degree. everyday give me business plan that cant work. everything must 4p, where got so many P to do

2.Dun expect them to fly to 3rd world country like cambodia, sri lanka +++ they ask you how to do transist or stay what hotel, they expect to go japan/us and travel in style

3. lot of empty and useless suggestion that looking at long term. ( read too much management), no action or problem solving skill

too much more, cannot continue

well said, all of you

local grads are bunch of losers

comparing grads and grads, prc grads are much better than local

comparing local and local, poly grads much better than uni grads

if you have local uni grad under 30 years old on your payroll, my sympathies

Previous company i worked for has tonnes of these graduates coming for interview whenever we expand our operation. Local grads demands at least 3k in salary and because of travelling requirement, they will only fly on monday after 9.00a.m. and expects to be back in Singapore by friday afternoon.

Got 1 cheebye local grad tell me this "sorry i can't do this as my degree is not a business degree"

Can u believe this shit? This prick purposely choose to use complex statistical study to come up with a pile of data, but dunno how to explain logic wor! :oIo:

Get a poly grads. This group are more humble and practical. Also get those with working experiences, they know more about corporate world and tend to be more adaptable.

can i ask you? then how do the uni grad get working experience if no one wants to hire them.

Well done people.

Let's pwned our own sinkies.
Give jobs to foreigners.
Sack old sinkies.

:oIo: :p :oIo:

I don't know if lack of working experience is the problem. I think its the system, attitude,..., that exists in PAP Spore.

The local Uni student have spent most of their lifes in school/NS listening to authoritative figure on the right way to "solve" problems. Any deviation from the "right" way is sternly dissuaded. They lack the soft skills, EQ, social skills,..., to interact with others. They are clueless what is required in a job.

Just take a look at our own PM & his wife, they both are examples of our elites & they have gone from one fiasco to another without having learned anything. One of them even admits not having any regrets

not pwned own sinkies, but reward those good ones and punish those lousy ones. even foreigners also the same, but most of the foreigners here are trash! a lot of white trash and black trash! :D
