Adhe Noviello, 17, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with head injuries. Ashok Kumar, 16, is said to have needed treatment for an asthma attack and was discharged the same day.

Neither Bedok Town Secondary nor ACS (Barker Road) would confirm what happened, but the match was a hard-fought affair fraught with allegations of foul play.

Both schools confirmed that the two players were sent to hospital, but their teachers and students have been told not to talk to reporters.

Medical help was called in. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said he was taken to hospital in a semi-conscious state.
It is believed that Ashok, who is Bedok Town's head prefect, also claimed he had been punched during the match.
However, ACS coach Lincoln Tan, 45, claimed that he did not see anything unusual during the match.
He said: 'Frankly, I don't know what happened. I spoke to my boys and no one has admitted throwing any punches. Although he was surprised at the extent of Adhe's injuries, he warned against listening to hearsay, and added that the Bedok Town players appeared 'very emotional'.
He said: 'Rugby is a contact sport after all. If it was serious, I'm sure all of us would have seen the punches.'
The match referee declined comment.

When The Straits Times visited Adhe last night, he was still in the ICU with several school mates and his mother taking turns to be by his bedside. They declined to be interviewed.
The school is also in touch with his parents to provide support and is monitoring the situation closely.

not for rugby. this is not the first time i heard of grudge matches between neighbourhood school vs Acs resulting someone ending up in hospital. i heard before someone got uppercut at a scrum and his eyeball pop out. Immediate A&e. This happen in the 90s.
