Thus a post-LKY era is used here not in the literal but in the ironic sense, not in the temporal but the experiential sense, to refer to the present, when Mr Lee is still around to witness and be daily reminded of possibly the most painful fact of his political career—that he was, in effect, the biggest casualty in GE 2011.

She is too generous to LKY. Why discount the possibility that LKY was self-serving? He succeeded in developing Sinkapore in a short period of time. Was it solely because of his deep dedication to Sinkapore? I doubt it. He was egoistic. He was arrogant and thought highly of himself. Since he was able to rule Malaya, he decided that the next best thing was to rule an independent state. Thus, he forced the conditions that led to the departure of Sinkapore from the federation. Fortunately, for LKY, sinkees responded to his call for survival tenacity and that led to Sinkapore's success. Most of the credit should go to sinkees. Yet LKY chose to hoard the credit. How often has he ever complemented Sinkees?

The island is in the current mess because of LKY. A case could be made to suggest that the PAP needed to push for economic growth at all cost so that they can continue to pay million-dollar salaries to their leaders. That is self-serving. The leaders in the PAP are there not for the country, but for themselves. They have this entitlement mentality - that sinkees owe the party. The recent electoral setbacks to the PAP was a rude awakening. But it is not good enough as they continue to think that their control of the media and the establishment will allow to restore their dominance in the next election. The PAP should be tossed out or at best, be afforded a minority government. It is time to put these self-serving politicians, pretending to be patriots, back in their place.

I'm astounded that there are so-called Singaporeans who are in perpetual self-denial about the greatness of Singapore's founding father LKY. Either that, or are they are simply retarded.

Leaders all over the world - from 1st World to 3rd World including communist leaders who were dead against LKY for his early anti-communist stance - have praised the Singapore leaders for its miraculous transformation of this resource-less island.

Don't tell me these people here who can't even differentiate between "compliment" and "complement" are smarter than them?

I think he was planning for an exit for quite some time. The GE 2011 was an opportunity to be 'elected' and passed the baton to noobs. LKY can't lose anything as long as the string is still attached to LHL - Dragon boy is a puppet anyway. LKY could cut loose of his presence as it was considered as a liability to Lee Jr's reign.

The winners should be noobs that got themselves windfalls for doing absolutely nothing.
