He did cry sincerely.

He was devastated that his ambitions of becoming Malaysia's PM was thwarted.

It must have been hugely disappointing, like hoping for a son but instead getting a daughter.

I think after 2 years, he knows he cannot control the Malays. Better quit when there is a opportunity.
