wage cost is one major component, no matter how u see it. Land lord - monopoly, electricity bill - monopoly. the only "flexibility" in running a business is wage cost, ie hire foreigners who is willing to shit work for $600-$900 a month.
we all know the empty promises that govt have made for helping SMEs. Help? what help?
If only the wage is flexible enough , what are we to the country ? Are we slave ? If the biggest land lord in Singapore ( which is the goverment ) , keep cutting our wage and keep increasing the cost direct and indirectly, how are we going to survive ? Yes wages is a huge compnent, rental ,utilities and transportation is also another set of cost that add to the total cost. The crux of the problem , why is workers always taking the brunt of the fall out and our perm secetary takes 15 days off spending 46K on French cooking ? We never ask for asset enhancment using HDB, which is supposedly low cost housing for Singaporean using tax payer money.
If trying to contain the wage failed, then they bring in all the foreigners to compete with Sinaporean. Not just on the ground level , even the white collar professional has felt the heat. It every level. By tying the cost of HDB using market rate has indirectly push up the cost of living and doing business in Singapore. Why they just cant admit that they have FUCK singaporean through and through ?
So by artifically keeping the wage low, they think MNC will come in and set up shop ? No, it failed badly. See all the factories are all moving out one by one. If keeping the wage low is not enough , they shd be cutting back on the rental as well. The trend of using MNC to boost the GDP has back fired, it has work mircale a few decade ago , but it has failed miserablely this last few years.
Knowledge economy has come to passed , they have stop talking abt it. The new BUZZ WORD is HUB ! We are PROSTITUTION HUB ..... we have gambling HUB , we are hub for international meeting ...........
