Together with his Dad's ward too..go see for yrself - litter everywhere on kerbs and footpaths, drains clogged with fallen leaves and rubbish, uncut untrimmed grass on road side..you name it they have it.

this is due to the silent competition amongst the tc.
whoever makes the most surplus win the prize.

you simply cannot understand their love for money. even thought it is not their own.
how much they need to accumulate before they are willing to use it for the purpose it is supposed to be used for ?

This type of matter got international standards. Or else Japanese, Korean, US lifts will be crashing give the number of people using lifts in those countries compared to Singapore.

So question is whether we subscribe to these international standards. And if there is sub-standard work, these vendors MUST be made to pay heavily plus ban from doing maintainence for x years. If there is sign of fraud - then jail terms. After all we are talking about people's lives here. So got to be serious.

The reason:

Skimping on maintenance, just like they did with public transport.
If you don't believe me, look at the lifts in your HDB neighbourhood. There are no more routine, periodic checks done by technicians. A repairman is only called when the lift is spoilt.

I think not only is it necessary to buy insurance for taking public transport, even a lift ride needs life insurance these days.

The PM will cite this as an example to show the need to pay more for estate maintenance or to let in more foreign expertise to do the work on the cheap.

This problem didn't happen overnight. It is a result of years of neglect by the PAP.
Even if Sporeans pay even more $$$(+$$..) will it really improve things

It's getting more obvious that we need more opposition in parliament. The more watchful eyes the better because there are plenty of lazy cronies & PAPries out there
