I am always amazed at how right-wing Christians choose which signs they want to interpret as messages from God. Maybe the taking back of AWARE by old guard was God's sign that it belonged in our hands.

I doubt that any of the protagonists will admit any wrongdoing. They probably feel misunderstood by all us sinners

i think you are being a tad unfair to PAPs...i don't think all the facts were clear as to WHO (party or parties) was really behind the new exco and WHAT (agenda(s)) they stood for, at least for quite some time after 28th Mar (AGM election)...in fact even up to today there still appears to be some fog of confusion...

but i personally think this incident shows that the present PAPs maybe a tad soft...like i have said in other threads...if harry was still PM none of the protagonist actors in this saga would even have contemplated trying to pull such a stunt let alone go ahead with it in the first place...

IIt is ashame that the ruling party PAP has not taken this opportunity to make its stand clearly on this episode when it first surfaced. They have lost all secular moral courage to make a clear stand to defend our deep rooted consensus Core Value of a Secular Nation in a society of multi-religion.

It is understandable that why PAP refused to come out straight to reiterate our Secular values for fear of losing support from the Christian community. However, as the ruling party, it should be thinking more about what is RIGHT for the Nation instead of putting party's interests as top priority in consideration. Of course, PAP is not stupid at all and they understand the implicit as well as explicit impact of this AWARE saga. This is why the media is being tasked to become a proxy battle front for them, against the Christian group.

So may I suggest that come the next GE, the opposition could:

1. Tap into that latent sense of justice that many Singaporeans harbour ie. pick something truly worthwhile to champion. Something that all Singaporeans can feel strongly about. Lofty idealistic terms like human rights etc. just don't cut it!

2. Construct a message that is crystal clear. Say what the problem is and what you propose as a solution. Make it an easy issue for Singaporeans to rally around.

3. Stay on message no matter what the opposition does. No backtracking, bickering amongst yourselves, balls dropping because of threats of law suits etc.

yes i was quite shocked to see retired bishop moses tay(i think, i stand corrected on this one) walking into the elections office with his crucifix clear to all together with andrew kuan when kuan went to send in his papers...i felt pretty uncomfortable and concerned...not a good sign...

The AWARE hijack is not the first atempt by the fundies.

If you remember, the first revolt by oragnised church movement began many years ago. That year was Presidential erections. That guy was blessed by some Church pastor or senior pastor to run for the erections.

LKY will face his worst nightmares when this group of vocal people become more organise.

i dun really agree with separating Jesus with politics...

Jesus should be entrenched in my daily lives......that's what the bible says....to receive God's blessings.

as for other religion, i am not really interested...because the bible teaches me not to worship other gods, other than Jesus.

if VIBGYOR is so inetrested in making SG a christian nation, then by all means, form a political party that is christianity based, & used it to campaign in the next GE.
