I do not understand why I have to continue to play nanny and nursemaid to all the members here.

I've been receiving abuse ever since I got my first 14.4 Kb dial up account way back in 1995 and it has never upset me in the least. It's like water off a duck's back. It simply has no effect on me whatsoever and anyone who is not posting using their real identity should feel exactly the same way.

People have hurled profanities at Sam Leong's wife, mother, sister, daughter and dog but it doesn't make the slightest impact because Sam Leong is nothing more than an on line persona that I have adopted for the last 2 decades.

If everyone adopted the same logical and down to earth attitude, I wouldn't have to waste all my time restricting access to the various features in this forum to the detriment of those who have legitimate use for them.

However, since a considerable number need to mollycoddled, I've done the following :

1. Moderated members cannot use the rep system.
2. Moderated members cannot PM

The nicks that have been hurling abuse have been deleted. More will be registered. Report abuse to me and I'll delete those nicks too.

If you're referring to the PMs then it's a different issue. Banning won't help as he will just open another account.

1. I can configure the settings so that moderated members cannot PM. However, that will prevent a lot of PMs from being sent by those who use the JB section and prefer to enquire about issues privately but don't want to post in the forum.

2. I can write a script that deletes all the garbage every few hours.

I have done 2 and if you check, you probably will find that the PM has disappeared already.

Sawasdeekrup Leongsam. Thank you for your reasonable reply. I agree with you on the "put to ignore list" suggestion. It is a good suggestion and I had done it however do keep your options open if things do get out of had in future like the geylanguncle thingy happens even through PMs.
