Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam has welcomed the appointment of Ms Grace Fu as the Second Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Ms Fu has also been promoted to become a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office as part of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s cabinet ‘reshuffle’.
Speaking to the state-controlled media, Mr Shanmugam described Ms Fu as a ‘tremendous asset’.

“She’s effectively bi-cultural and would be very helpful in many areas and also we’re discussing with her, I’ve started speaking with her on how we can share responsibilities,” he said.
Mr Shanmugam added that Ms Fu will help in managing Singapore’s external relations in an “increasingly fluid and challenging regional and global environment”.
Ms Fu was lampooned a few months ago by netizens after complaining about her pay cut in the aftermath of the General Election last year.

WTF!

After announcing the appointment, the Law Minister says he will discuss how to share responsibilities? One would have thought that there would have been a review of the minister's responsbilities, found wanting in certain areas due to the excessive work-load and therefore, recommend to PM to give him someone to help out.

Or he is hinting that Ms Fu was dumped on him, as his statement makes no reference of the expected heavy workload ahead in his ministry.

Or is Ms F U being elevated as part of the 'inclusiveness' that we are promoting?

It is fair for Ms Fu to think that she deserves more than what she gets as minister of state,and she succeed,I wonder whether any of other Minister of state also have such thought,how about Ministers?a group of most self assured politicians in the world,I am sure most of them also think that they deserve more than what they now get,especially after the reduction forced by the 40%.
