SINGPAORE: US President Barrack Obama will not be speaking at the APEC CEO Summit this weekend.
This according to an updated programme of the CEO summit released on Wednesday.
The slot allocated for President Obama to speak on Saturday has been taken by the US Trade Representative Ron Kirk.
Mr Kirk will be speaking on the subject - "the United States and APEC Partners in Global Trade Today".
President Obama's arrival in Asia has been delayed by a memorial service following the shootings at Fort Hood, which he attended.
Mr Obama will first travel to Tokyo for talks with Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.
Mr Obama will then attend the weekend's APEC summit in Singapore.
He will also become the first US president to sit down with all 10 leaders of ASEAN, including Myanmar.
Mr Obama is then scheduled to visit Shanghai and fly on to Beijing for a state dinner and talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao, before wrapping up his tour in South Korea.
Mr Obama will stress on engagement and hopes for co-operation on national security, climate change, and economic issues. - CNA/vm
