And now, we have FT praising lift upgrading .....did these people understand what was going on ?

You people may realise that many small blocks of flats look very aweful with 7 to 8 lifts serving one block....ridiculous, of course, maintenance funds may also go up(you people call HDB conservancy fees).

Besides, you can figure out that views from flats are blocked becos most lift upgrading is protruded out from the main facade. Not only that, sunshine and wind may also get blocked thus making the rooms hotter and dimmer without the lights on.

Lift upgrading transforms HDB pigeon holes into like URA factories !!! No joke, just gawk and think about it!

And some more, lift upgrading becomes a vogue during elections, what a mass stupidity !

I hope Alternative parties bring up this issue and perhaps request for inquiry into why lifts were built like that in the past.
Recall all contractors and subordinates working under late Ah Teh and investigates the issue meticulously. I think some may be still alive in singapore.

If lift not stopping at every floor was a past oversight or for other wrong reasons, HDB must apologise and install lifts for free.

Alternative parties should educate the voters on the issue and press for the right action.

Voters need to know the truth and not just vote for lift upgrading !

God bless all alternative parties and members ! May the force be with you !

:eek::eek::eek:

did the author mention that folks need to consider why tenants need to co-pay for a structural appendage to the existing block when it is the responsibility of the owner to cover such costs.

Time changes. I think at that time and at that price, people accepted that the lifts did not stop at all floors. People now are willing to pay for more convenience, hence there is lift-upgrading. The points to consider are how much we have to pay, and the design of the flats whether they are suitable for adding the lift landings at each floor. If they are not, then it is better to SERS them.

a nice perspective but it doesn't negate the fact that tenants need not be footing the bill for the construction of an additional structural appendage :p:p:p

Yes. If it is a tenant-landlord relationship, then the tenant need not pay. But sheep fur grows on sheep body, the landlord will raise rent to recover cost.

thank you for conceding that tenants need not pay, but why Singaporeans are asked to co-pay? :p:p:p

Please be reminded that the late Teh Chiang Wan (then the Minister for National Development and HDB chief) was charged for curruption and he committed suicide by swallowing a whole bottle of sleeping pills.

The old man LKY (old fart if you like) was the last one to have visited him in custody. BUt up till to day no one (the police) can determine where the bottle of sleeping pills came from?

Your guess?

Is as good as mine.
