PAP 60% votes = 90% elected seats
Opposition 40% votes = 10% elected seats
the electoral system is deeply flawed and screwed to the PAP massive advantages.
It's not just that, the laughable way in which they carve up the electoral districts. For example, a place is nowhere near Tanjong Pagar but it is part of the 'Tanjong Pagar GRC'. Some towns have been passed around like an unwanted stepchild between multiple GRCs over the years e.g. Clementi.
A big part of the problem is how LKY had mixed up municipal and lawmaking duties of MPs. The Hongkies had a better system under the British before the Tiongs corrupted then destroyed it after 1997.
If you want to debate and pass bills/laws (not Parleement rubberstamp), be a legislator.
If you want to be a town council manager and listen to your residents problems, stay away from lawmaking and be a full-time 'mayor'.
If you want to be a minister and deal with the 'macro' side of running the country, stay away from the above two and be in the executive branch.
