Kovan Double Murder thread

Re: Brother Golden Dragon, any updates on Kovan murder?

Imo, suspect is not likely to be carrying his old handphone. Criminals are intelligent, most of the time.

On the contrary i find criminals are dumb most of the time. Similar to the guni ter case, they stopped at Mudland for makan and got arrested. Intelligent will continue to run and run and vanish lo..

Re: Kovan double murder: Suspects can't hide for long, say experts

This reminds me of the case in HK which was shown on Channel 5 "Anatomy Of A Crime" a few days ago.

From wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsui_Po-ko

Tsui Po-ko (Chinese: 徐步高) (17 May 1969 – 17 March 2006) was a police constable in the Hong Kong Police Force who was implicated in a number of crimes, which included bank robbery and murder.

He died when he and another police constable shot each other in a gun battle in a Tsim Sha Tsui underpass. The inquest into the events leading up to his death aroused great interest in Hong Kong, as it unravelled a string of intriguing events, and revealed the secret life of a policeman with a delusional state of mind.[1]

On 25 April 2007, the five-person jury in the Coroner's court unanimously decided that Tsui was responsible for injuring one and killing two fellow police officers and a bank security guard, on three separate occasions. The jury returned a verdict that he had been "lawfully killed" by fellow officer Tsang Kwok-hang in a shootout.[2] The inquest lasted 36 days, one of the longest ever of inquests in Hong Kong.

Assistant Police Commissioner John Lee said that this was "an exceptional case".[3] Coroner Michael Chan Pik-kiu called "the most difficult" inquest for a jury he had ever encountered.[4]

Should not have stopped for meals. Do not even go into a convenience store (watch the movie Enemy of the State and find out why).

This is where SAF combat rations come in really handy for fugitives on the run. ;)

Kovan double murder: Cop arrested, fled across border on a scooter

AsiaOne
Saturday, Jul 13, 2013

SINGAPORE - A press conference about the Kovan double murders that happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and Police Commissioner Ng Joo Hee chaired the press conference that took place at 11am, on Saturday, July 13.

They revealed that the 34-year-old suspect is police officer Iskandar bin Rahmat who was with Bedok police station. He was a Senior Staff Sergeant and was in the police force for 14 years.

Mr Tan Boon Sin, 67, was discovered in his home in Hillside Drive, near Upper Serangoon Road while the body of his son, 42, was found earlier about 1km away outside Kovan MRT station.

According to eyewitnesses a Toyota Camry had dragged the body of the younger Mr Tan along Upper Serangoon Road before the body was dislodged.

It was revealed during the press conference that the elder victim, Tan Boon Sin, had made a police report for theft at Bedok police station in Nov 2012.

Iskandar, who was the duty officer when the theft report was made, was also the initial investigating officer, but he was later removed from the case.

The suspect left Singapore for Malaysia on a scooter on the same day of the alleged murders.

He was arrested at a Danga Bay restaurant in Johor, on Friday night at about 11.30pm. He has since been extradited to Singapore and will be taken to Cantonment police station at around noon.

The police added that he was in debt, but it did not involve gambling and instead was due to domestic matters.

"Today is a sad day for the police", acknowledged Police Commissioner Ng. He added that the suspect will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Re: Kovan double murder: Suspects can't hide for long, say experts

Police say that Iskandar had personal debt issues. He was the police officer attending to elder victim Tan Boon Sin when he made a police report in November 2012. The extent of the relationship between the two is not known.

I thought they are required to be reviewed annually with regards to their personal debts.

Re: Kovan 34-yr old suspected Kovan murderer arrested

The moral of the story is you can commit a crime in Singapore but don't flee to Malaysia.

Right.

Then was a case the SPF never could solve when the HK triad took a contract out on someone in Sinkland at Shenton Way years back.

Back then even if they know which triad was responsible.

What could the Fuck SPF poddle do.

It shows that some criminal org in the World are way too BIG even for the Poodle to deal with! LoL

I thought they are required to be reviewed annually with regards to their personal debts.

I would suppose that an accurate review would depend very much on 2 things:
1. the guy being reviewed being truthful and honest.
2. the guy being reviewed taking loans from banks, finance companies or licensed moneylenders. if he borrowed from relatives, friends or ah longs, the debts would not be traced.

It could be that the case reported by the elder Tan may be unrelated to this case, but that is how the suspect got to know Mr Tan.
The motive could be linked back to that fateful day in Nov 2012. May be a request for financial help which was rejected.
