With ebooks and the convenience of being able to carry my whole library of books on my tablet anywhere I go, I personally won't even step into NLB, kinokuniya or any bookstore to buy any books. Just speaking for myself only.

This kinokuniya and other bookstores reminds me of Poh Kim DVD lol....

For book stores like Kinokuniya, Times, MPH.... it is not the location or their marketing.
Just the 'march' of time, technology.
.
ala Fuji or kodak Film, Royal or Olivetti typewriters, ...

There is NOTHING like holding a book, in a quiet time, to explore the words that good authors attempt to share PERSONAL experiences thru their own life or graphics & tech formulas in scientific mags. One can read, & re-read at anytime from trusted sources, unlike a heavy computer tablet which is often confined to space & battery usage, as well as the distractions from plethora of internet information, some which are true but many are faked news...

Perhaps, Humankind had LONG been used to flipping pages, to read & re-read.....& may be not ready or prepared to confine their long held methods of reading style...

It is with great courage that Kinokuniya had invested, to HELP Singaporeans, if not Humanity, on the pure joys of flipping a page as MOST educated Humans had gone thru, even in their formative years....They should be supported....

All the best to Kinokuniya...

it is not exactly a new outlet.

it was kino's gift shop and rebadged as kino book shop now

For this time, I do agree with you.
Reading is good. It nourishes.
