PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has denied owning any of the aircraft that have been left unclaimed at KL International Airport (KLIA).

According to a MAS media relations officer, the airline does not own any of the three Boeing 747-200F aircraft.

"If it was ours, we would have claimed it," said the officer.

Aviation enthusiasts have linked two of the three aircraft to MAS after a search online found that MasKargo had leased two of the planes from Air Atlanta Icelandic.

E-mails to Air Atlanta Icelandic went unanswered.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the country's main airport operator, published an advertisement on Dec 7 in The Star and Sin Chew Daily to serve as notice to the owner of the aircraft that the aircraft may be sold or disposed of if not collected within 14 days.

The money raised by the sale would be used to offset any expenses and debts owed by the owner to Malaysia Airports.

"The giving of such notice by way of advertisement is a common and reasonable step in the process of debt recovery especially in cases where the company concerned has ceased operations and is a foreign entity," said MAHB in a statement on Tuesday.

MAHB said that "exhaustive steps" were taken to find a contact person, but its efforts have not been successful.

"This step is also a common process undertaken by airport operators all over the world when faced with such a situation," it added.

Clear signs of Airline Industry going on Bankruptcy trend.

could it be belong to isis? they plan to attack us. but their pilot was delayed due to security boost in france. RSAF should monitor these plane asap. Keep our sky safe.

Got extra planes for terrorist attacks?

Still haven't decided on the targets yet?

Al Qeida lah, ISIS does not use planes.

i heard al qeida people jump ship to isis, because they offer them a lot of money and (other muslim woman from other sect) slave for sex.

i heard it is over for al qeida, especially after their leader was killed.

Huat Ah!

There is also a 747 abandoned at changi with the airline livery. I think it's a defunct HK airline. And also SIA parked some excess planes there too. These are mothballed 777-200 I think.

Do you see any mothballed A380:confused:

The A380 is a big plane & I wonder if SIA can attract enough passengers to make it profitable:confused::
