KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan -- The Kaohsiung police force was in the news headlines yesterday after a tape resurfaced which showed close to ten police officers drinking and dancing with female hostesses. The scandal was reportedly exposed by one of the parties involved in a local Jui Feng night market dispute, said local media. The clash is over the night market management and the vendors. The management had reportedly raised the rent and disallowed vendors to sublet. The 5,000 ping [one ping = 36 square feet] market has around 900 vendors that bring in huge monthly rents.
Previously vendors could make extra cash by subletting. According to local media, one of the sides had invited several Kaohsiung policemen to ''have a good time'' at a local hostess bar. The policemen danced, drank and sang while female hostess entertained them in a private lounge, all while a hidden camera filmed the two-hour long scandal. The scandalous tape shocked high officials after an anonymous person sent it to the Kaohsiung Police Department. All the policemen involved have been relocated to other areas, said local media.
