Don't forget there is always some upgrading work going on in Spore. Wink, wink, someone is getting rich from all these contracts.

Upgrading of HDB is very lucrative, when you add up those thousands of people each have to pay $$$$, it all adds up.

Many of these kuching kurak projects add up to millions lah; grass cutting, tree watering, sweeping of streets. Dig road again & again & again....

In Malaysia, the elites are getting rich doing mega projects like constructing dams, airports, etc.

I suspect Spore got more multi-millionaires civil servants than Malaysia. So PAP system is the bestest system

Why don't your relatives move ? I suspect because they are paying [Malaysian] peanuts in taxes & so got low expectations. Property damage must also be relatively insignificant.

There are also similar projects in Malaysia, & if you are talking about corruption, according to international reports, Singapore is in no position to compete with Malaysia in that aspect......

Malaysia is a place well known for corruption, as stated in today's paper, based on a survey carried out in M'sia.

Needless to say anymore............. :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

whereas.... in Malaysia, my relative's place is often flooded, with poor lighting & poor road condition even 'til today...............:biggrin:

Malaysians and Singaporeans do things differently.
Singaporeans will cowpehcowbu wait for government to do something.
Malaysians will self service and just do it.
There was a time when my housing estate in Gememcheh often flooded whenever it got heavy rains.
The residents there got together and arrange gotong rotong when everyone chip in to help build drainage system.
Now there is no more flood even when heavy rains continued falling from overnight.
But the neighbouring bumiputra kampungs become swimming pools

Not 'cow father cow mother', but rather it is illegal to tamper with govt properties like drains & pipes, 'cos Singapore is a civilised country whereas Malaysia is still kind of backward when it comes to that...... In other words, the mentality is different.

Malaysians have to self service b'cos they know that they cannot rely on their govt when it comes to such problem.

Same, same in Indonesia.

Heard that during the racial riots, people in various communities organised themselves to defend their property. When the rioters came across these defended communities, they backed down & went elsewhere.

Looks like Sporeans will have to DIY with the current attitude of the police
