LKY made the terrible mistake of abolishing use of dialects in radio and TV and thereby it deprived the old folks of their one source of daily entertainment. Did his policy succeed in making the sinkies better and happier? No, leh. They became robotic and did not how to communicate with their grandparents or even parents in dialects and in the process, a generation gap was established. Family bonding? It does not exist.
