The Photographic Society of Singapore is the national body of photographic art in Singapore, and the official National Federation appointed by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
Lim Leong Kiat’s interest in photography began in the 1980s, and his first DSLR camera was purchased for a trip to China. Since then, he has developed a strong interest in landscape and travel photography and has even won numerous awards in international competitions. He holds many photography accolades including the title of Master PSA (MPSA) from The Photography Society of America and Excellence FIAP (EFIAP) from The International Federation of Photographic Art.
“Whether the photo is able to deliver the message that the photographer wishes to convey and the “WOW” factor are the two most important elements that I look at.”

Widely known for designing many ground-breaking buildings worldwide, Safdie Architects has designed many iconic commercial and residential developments in Singapore such as Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport. Charu is a Partner at Safdie Architects, and she was one of the key leaders who headed the design and construction of Jewel. As a design guardian, she strongly believes that successful buildings are the ones where the visitor experiences emotions for which the building was designed for. “At Jewel Changi Airport, our role was of a conductor, for a project, whose scale and complexity presented great challenges but allowed us to implement ideas that had never been tried before.”
Some of her favourite spots to take photos at Jewel include the East and West trails at the Shiseido Forest Valley as the scenery changes at every turn along the winding path.
“This is a picture I took one evening just before sunset during the construction of Jewel. As the dust was settling, golden sunrays came filtering through the roof like blessings from the sky. It was a magical moment. Very beautiful and spiritual.”
