JB Food

Just had seafood at Gelang Patah, at a restaurant called "New Chua Kee Restaurant". The salted egg crabs, pumpkin-yam prawns, special sauce grilled chicken wings were delicious!

Mainly frequented by JB plated cars but around 20% were SG cars. Heard that they separated from "Chua Kee Restaurant" after siblings quarrel. Enjoy!

Anyone interested to buy Muar otah can get at the local products shop located a few shops away from the CW3 terminal at Bukit Indah.

Thanks for the info, will check them out. Save the trip to Muar when the craving comes.

Where is it? Same row with cw terminal bukit indah?

Yeah along the same row of shops, the one that sells Chinese pastry and other local products. The otah freezer cabinet is in the room behind, partially hidden from view.

Coming from Penang, I find it hard for JB food to meet my standards. Hey, thats just me though,

The Meng Meng Roasted Duck Eatery near Sutera Mall is not bad. Duck Meat - fragrant and tender :)

Hi Forum mates,

when the Malaysian Chinese language newspaper Guangming Daily orgainsed a Malaysia wide contest in 2006 to find which is the best bak kut teh in the country, the winner was found and it was in JB! The panel of judges was led by celebrity food critic Chua Lam. Amazing isn't it? The best of many, many BKT shops in the whole country is right at our door step. http://johorkaki.blogspot.com/2012/03/bak-kut-teh-crystal-bak-cheng-off-jalan.html

Hi Johorkaki, I tried some of your recommendations yesterday night. V good! I noticed your blog is entirely devoted to hawker stalls and coffee shops. How about gd restaurants in JB? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Hi Johorkaki,

Your blog is interesting and informative. Keep it up. By the way, do give a try on the noodles with abalone slices at the junction of Jalan Tun Abdul Razak and Jalan Kebun Teh Lama (GPS: 1.477658°N, 103.753443°E) They are open from 7.30am to about 4pm on Mondays to Saturdays and to about 1pm on Sundays. Cheers.
