YES 933 radio DJ Lin Peifen was among a number of parents across Singapore who comforted their children following the tragic death of a student at River Valley High School (RVHS) on Monday (July 19).

Yesterday, the 38-year-old mother of two posted an open letter on Instagram to her older son Luke, who's six. She also has a son Jude who will be one year old soon.

Peifen first revealed in the post that the shocking incident at RVHS had weighed heavily on her mind before explaining it as sensitively as she could to her son.

"I don't know why it happened, nobody really knows. But I want you to know that even though bad things like this can happen, you don't have to fear," she wrote.

She then assured the boy that despite the tragedy, his own school, country and home are still safe places.

"You will always have Mama, Papa, your teachers and many other good adults around you to protect you."

She added: "It's OK to feel scared or angry or unhappy about this, or anything that may happen in the future. It's normal and healthy to have such feelings."

Peifen then suggested ways on how he can feel better. "You can cry, you can draw, you can write, you can talk to me or Papa, or you can simply ask me for a hug. And, as always, you can pray," she recommended.

What a crock of lies. Mama, Papa and teachers won't know you're being chopped to pieces until it is too late.

And in the midst of this tragic event she still bothers to photoshop her images.

Why didn’t she write him about the bleak future he is going to have ? He need to take a vaccine of unknown efficacy, he need to join NS to defend the foreigners who will then take his jobs and then despise by fellow singaporean women that he might turn gay, which is worse because sucking another man’s cock is illegal. He will have until he die to work to pay off unlimited debts.

Pls tell us u don’t have any children

A hopeless loser trying to load lies and negative thoughts to make another loser of his kid. How pathetic.

She can tell her son : Don't be scared of the gloomy skies over Red Dot.

Should address the root cause of the unfortunate incident and institute proper safe guards to eliminate future re occurrence. That's the best that we can do for the young.. not trying to console them.. tough concrete action is needed

What nonsense is this? 97% of the RV students returned to school after the m&d holiday, ready to resume lessons. They have shown great resilience during this tragedy. Many of them have indicated in their counselling worksheets that they are happy to return to school and they were made for this sort of challenge.

The Ministry of Education (MOE)'s Director-General of Education, Wong Siew Hoong, spoke to the media on the River Valley High School (RVHS) incident today (Jul. 21).

Wong outlined the response taken by the team at RVHS in the past two days and thanked concerned members of the public for their support and encouragement.

He also commended RVHS students for showing resilience in returning to school from Jul. 21.

Wong then outlined the steps that are being taken to continue to support students and staff at RVHS, and promised continued vigilance from MOE and schools regarding campus security, in light of parents' concerns about their children's safety in schools.

Most of the problems are caused by foreigners bec Sinkies are a dying breed. So stop whining. It's only an anomaly. Pls fuck off.

Why write open letter to 6 year old son...just sit him down and talk to him. He can read meh ?

Singapore seems to be going down the same touchy feely path that has wrecked western nations.

If the RV students spend more time on their studies and less talking about their feelings, they would feel better about themselves. They were made for this challenge!

She should have told her both sons to study harder and get a 1st class honours degree.
Then take up a job in Grab food delivery or Grab driver, security guard or even cleaner.
