Stupid sinkies are drawn again into another act of intellectual masterbation by the PAP. Hello! Doesn't anyone bother to check the definition of productivity in the dictionary? Unit output per unit input, lah. Circuititous reasoning and semantic gymnastics with only one conclusion: to up productivity, you need to cut cost for your boss, then he will pay you more.

Since the bulk of the cost of doing business is wages, than to get more pay you must accept less pay per hour but work longer hours. Those extra units of labor must also be combined with other Factors of production, but not so much that it adds to overheads.
So best you, the worker pay for those extra units of factor of production yourself! Use your own laptop, broadband, 3G smartphone. Drive your car and make more work-related trips. Work weekends and don't take off, have a manager jog title and don't claim overtime. That's how you up productivity where it counts.

There won't be massive inflation by increasing the salaries of the lowest rung workers. The impact is minimal. On the other hand, the top-dollar increases for the above $15k salary group will directly raise the inflation rate. It had already been happening, with the greatest impact coming from the out of the world pay rise for the Ministers.
