Air India was once the company that inspired Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific

In the early 1970s, the government of Singapore, led by prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, had a great idea. In order to attract investment into the little island nation, it thought of starting an international airline that would act as a kind of flying advertisement for Singapore and its world-class capabilities. It would do this by demonstrating to decision-makers around the world a level of excellence that that they had never experienced from the top global airlines of the time.

It was a brilliant idea, but this new Singapore Airlines would obviously need to collaborate with an existing airline from which it would acquire the necessary know-how and service standards. The question was,

which airline could that be? The authorities made a shortlist of the world’s best airlines, and finally zeroed in on one of them.

And that airline, believe it or not, was Air India

Not. Believe it not.
Malaysia Singapore Airlines predated SQ. When SG left Malaysia, that split into SQ and MAS. SQ's reward program is Krisflyer. Where do you think the Kris comes from. They may have collaborated with Air India and other airlines, but believe me, SQ did not start from scratch with Air India.

Sounds like one of those articles from those indian fb page praising all things yindian.... Believe it or not space travel was invented by indians... Believe it or not electricity was invented by indians.... Believe it fuck

Not Air India but British Airways. Most of MSA's and by extension SIA's manuals in almost all the departments eg Marketing, HR ( Personnel ) etc were derived from BA's manuals. Flight operation's manuals were mainly American because of the all Boeing fleet but policies were greatly influenced by BA.

I am curious why this chap thought there is an Air India link. Any personnel that came from there or seconded from there during MSA days ? I do recall that in latter years that we sent people to Sri Lanka to help them and that Jet Airways practically copied our model>.

I do remember that in the 70s we had to bring in Port pilots from India for PSA.

Pilot Claims India Invented Airplane 7,000 Years Ago

Forget the Wright Brothers and the Apollo program. A paper presented this week at the Indian Science Conference by retired pilot Captain Anand Bodas claims that India invented airplanes 7,000 years ago and they could not only fly but stop in mid-air, move in any direction and travel to other planets.

Bodas, a retired pilot, trainer and one of the two authors of the paper “Ancient Indian Aviation Technology,” attributes the first aircraft to the Maharshi Bharadwaj. Here’s his description of what the Maharishi was flying:

The basic structure was of 60 by 60 feet and in some cases, over 200 feet. They were jumbo planes. The ancient planes had 40 small engines. Today’s aviation does not know even of flexible exhaust system.
Bodas claims the ancient Indians had a radar system called “rooparkanrahasya” that displayed the actual outline of the aircraft. Pilots drank the milk of buffalo, cows and sheep and wore clothing made from underwater vegetation. He says all of this information and more was written by Maharishi Bharadwaj in the book Vimana Samhita.

If a 7,000-year-old airplane wasn’t enough, a previous speaker claimed that ancient Indian mathematicians invented algebra and discovered the Pythagorean theorem but credit went to other countries.

What’s going on here? The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), host of the conference, is an organization of over 30,000 scientists whose objective is to “advance and promote the cause of science in India.” Many of the scientists in attendance signed an online petition objecting to Bodas’ presentation, calling it a “pseudo-science talk.” They believe it was endorsed by the country’s new Hindu nationalist rulers to foster national pride.

Addressing a symposium on “Ancient Indian Sciences Through Sanskrit,” computer scientist Vijay Bhatkar disagreed.

We observe that it is for the very first time in 102 years at the Indian Science Congress, that we have discussed ancient science. Why did it take 100 years for us to do so? The first question to be addressed is, why should we study, research, investigate ancient Indian sciences. This should have been an integral part of every Congress.
What do you think? Did Indians invent airplanes? Should the ancient Indian texts be studied as science?

They will also claim credit for inventing the whole world:D. So without them, the whole world will mati.

U hv to believe them.

Hungry he go begging for food. And chinesexand jap made him God.

You are correct....in the late 70s SIA sent personnel to help Air Lanka get started. The people sent were mostly from Flight Operations...pilots and flight engineers. Cabin crew sent some training personnel too. It was a good time to go there before the Tamil Tigers started acting up in earnest.
