It is clear that PAP have lost the trust of the voters in Singapore

For PAP to claim that they have a super majority of seats in Parliament with only a very low 60% plus popular vote is telling of their arrogance and refusal to listen to Singaporeans.
40% of the population didn't like PAP for sure. That translate to 1 million voters out of 2.5 millions who voted. A huge, huge number of people wanted PAP out. Their 83 seats in parliament is an illusion of popular support. PAP needs to recognise their own fake grandeur in parlaiment.

PAP sees RED in their own report card. Gan Kim Yong has lost many votes too. I hope those REDNESS are shown in their mouthpiece Broadsheet which I didn't buy.

Mr Gan Kim Yong and Miss Josephine Teo should resign as ministers. They did badly in managing covid crisis. The same goes for Mr Chan Chun Sing. When you are paid that highly, we expect more from you. Instead, refusing to apologize when making mistakes and u-turning all the time, it shows that don't deserve their high salaries, undeserving to be appointed as leaders

Heng Swee Kiat, the PM in waiting, took the worse result home. If he wants to get back his reputation, he should start fucking LHL and be his own man instead. He doesn't need to follow LHL's instruction in whatever he did or said.

And to those who have been falsely promoting that women voters will vote for PAP without using their brains, the results have proven you wrong. We, women voters have shown that we are able to discern what is good for Singapore. I am sure you can't deny that more women voters have voted for opposition in GE20 than GE15.

In fact, Miss Tin Pei Ling was the best performer of PAP with an increase of 7.4% of popular vote.

Miss Tin helped many of the old farts in MacPherson cut their electricity bill by 50% for a year. It's little wonder that she would gain so many votes. I'm just surprised that the mainstream media gave this matter so little attention.

SINGAPORE - One hundred low-income households in MacPherson will only pay half their electricity bills for one year. The rest will be borne by licensed energy retailer Sunseap Energy, a local company that is a subsidiary of Sunseap Group.

Sunseap will also provide these homes with solar energy as part of a social initiative to provide clean and affordable energy to households.

In a Facebook live session with MacPherson incumbent MP Tin Pei Ling on Monday (July 6), chief executive of Sunseap Frank Phuan said that the cost of solar energy has become lower than traditional sources of energy.

“This is the first step towards sustainability; not just clean and green, but more affordable energy to the masses. Hopefully this will start the ball rolling with other corporates joining us after this one year and not just in MacPherson but other parts of Singapore as well,” said Mr Phuan.

The scheme, the brainchild of Sunseap Group and incumbent MP Tin Pei Ling of the People’s Action Party, will be introduced later this year. Residents will not have to pay any installation charges.

The PAP MacPherson Branch said that it intends to work with Sunseap and other like-minded local companies to test and implement smart solutions within the estate.

Ms Tin, 36, said the initiative comes as residents have regularly sought help with their utility bills at meet-the-people sessions.

One MacPherson resident hoping to benefit from the scheme is 44-year-old Fadillah Leman, a babysitter who lives in Block 52 Circuit Road. She said: “We have outstanding utilities bills so any help will be good. Hopefully they choose the 100 households carefully.”

Other initiatives for residents later this year include dialogues and workshops at which PMETs (professionals, managers, executives and technicians) and job seekers can get advice from career counsellors. Children from lower-income families also stand to benefit from a Coding For Children programme.

Ms Tin is defending the single seat against opposition veteran Goh Meng Seng, 50.

Speaking to the media about the latest initiatives, the secretary-general of the People’s Power Party said: “Any project that comes to the estate is always good. However with limited resources we must prioritise the essentials.”

Listing covered walkways, a community hospital, and revamping the flats in the estate as some of these essentials, he added: “Maybe she thinks that the infrastructure of the whole estate is properly done, but I tend to disagree.”

Yes. I am happy that she has done well in serving the people of MacPherson with her heart and energies.

She has proven many opposition skeptics wrong.

While she may not be ministerial material, but she has put in good efforts and did not take the role of an MP for granted.

Many PAP Mps treated their role in politics as a ladder for personal career advancement. It's horrible to see such opportunistic crowd in the PAP echelons.

if only dr tan go in alone as smc
instead of being so ambitious
he should have easily won an smc
but well alas, too ambitious and too greedy
he falls flat at the hands of the more experienced pap
in five years ??? better to live happily than to fight sadly in vain
singapore will still go on without any oppo insanity
pritam is now the leader of the oppo
so good luck to him and he can helpthe less fortunate sinkies

TCB is 80 years old. No point SMC.
He wanted to bring in young blood then got legacy. Otherwise like Chiam See Tong what for?

It's sad to see PM Lee Hsien Loong saying that there have a "clear" mandate when they performed so badly in the last 5 years. It speaks volumes of their continued arrogance and elitist mentality in the PAP fold.

More trust will be lost after 24 Jul when community cases of daily reported Covid-19 infections soar to 4 digit figures.....

It's undeniable that she truly deserves her credit this morning. The electorate in MacPherson is not blind.

We are mostly pro oppies. But for TPL my aunt n family voted her.

Mr Goh Meng Seng is no different from those PAP opportunist candidates and MPs. He wanted glory without putting in hard work. I am glad that the voters of MacPherson rejected him outright with an increased support for Miss Tin Pei Ling.

TPL hardworking woman. My aunty gave her the thumbs up whenever she visited her home. I have no chance to meet TPL personally. At times i also wonder why my aunt like her so much. :cautious:  Maybe TPL could be like PAP Shamsul fm AJ GRC. Past 5 years i saw him several times. Very active helping out residents at Bedok. House visits to my relatives place twice. But my relatives very adamant and insisted their votes should be given to WP. I kind of pity Shamsul. Had latter been in SMC ward, Malays may support him.

No matter how "good" they are, they will still vote along party lines. Even when those policies hurt Singaporeans. Therefore,

How can any self-respecting Singaporean join a ruling party that behaves in such a morally reprehensible manner. Pritam Singh, May 5, 2011

This one very subjective. Look at Shamsul and TPL. Latter hardworking but got rejected cos residents vote on party line. Whereas for TPL more on individual, as far my relative is concerned. Another reason could be both differ...GRC and SMC.

Yes, that's always my disappointment with PAP MPs. They lack conscience. They care more about their own career progression than speaking out on what is wrong.

Even with so many new shitizens, cash payouts/bribes and their monopoly of MSM, their popularity is still dropping. I can't wait for the day we can celebrate the pap's demise.
