I defy the POFMA Correction Direction that Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam instructed me to publish on 5 October, via the POFMA Office, because it is unlawful and beyond his powers. I stand by everything I said in my post about Azwan bin Bohari’s execution, which I wrote for the Transformative Justice Collective (TJC), and republished on my own Facebook page.

Minister for Home Affairs Instructs POFMA Office to Issue Targeted Correction Direction to Meta Platforms, Inc. and X Corp.​

1. The Minister for Home Affairs has instructed the POFMA Office to issue a Targeted Correction Direction (“TCD”) to Meta Platforms, Inc. and X Corp., following Ms Kokila Annamalai’s non-compliance with the Correction Direction that was issued to her on 5 October 2024 (the “Direction”).

2. The TCD requires Meta Platforms, Inc. and X Corp. to alert users who have seen Ms Annamalai’s posts that are the subject of the Direction (the “Posts”), that the Posts contain false statements. Those false statements are that the Government schedules and stays executions arbitrarily and without regard for due legal process, and that the State does not bear the legal burden of proving a drug trafficking charge against the accused person. The TCD also requires users to be provided with the link to the Factually article in relation to the Direction, “Corrections regarding false statements concerning legal processes for Prisoners Awaiting Capital Punishment and the prosecution of drug trafficking charges” at https://www.gov.sg/article/factually051024.

3. MHA will be referring Ms Annamalai to POFMA Office for investigations into her non-compliance with the Correction Direction that was issued to her on 5 October 2024.
