Minister for Home Affairs Instructs POFMA Office to Issue Targeted Correction Direction to Meta Platforms, Inc. and X Corp.

1. The Minister for Home Affairs has instructed the POFMA Office to issue a Targeted Correction Direction (“TCD”) to Meta Platforms, Inc. and X Corp., following Ms Kokila Annamalai’s non-compliance with the Correction Direction that was issued to her on 5 October 2024 (the “Direction”).
2. The TCD requires Meta Platforms, Inc. and X Corp. to alert users who have seen Ms Annamalai’s posts that are the subject of the Direction (the “Posts”), that the Posts contain false statements. Those false statements are that the Government schedules and stays executions arbitrarily and without regard for due legal process, and that the State does not bear the legal burden of proving a drug trafficking charge against the accused person. 3. MHA will be referring Ms Annamalai to POFMA Office for investigations into her non-compliance with the Correction Direction that was issued to her on 5 October 2024.
