They already save on labour on dish clearing / collection and washing costs.

Why do they still charge extra for packaging materials?

Dish cleaning, collection and washing are part of fixed costs. Packaging materials are a variable cost.

Darling, they can either charge $4 and 20cents takeaway
Or they can raise the price to $4.50, no takeaway fee.

After they realise business is still good at $4.50, they will sneak in a 20cents takeaway fee again.
BYO container if you don't want to pay.

Especially now when we are forced to take away. It's not that we want to tabao. It's mandatory by law. So why are we charged extra for it?

In Muslim, husbands are allowed to divorce their wives if they are lazy

Plastic containers cost more. Unless you want it in brown wax paper or plastic bags, maybe FOC. Moat stalls use the former.
