Remember when the Malaysian Govt banned churches from referring to the Christian God as "Allah" even though Islam was founded 600 years after Christianity, and "Allah" was used to refer to God the Father by Christians from the 1st Century AD? Their fear was that when a Muslim walks past a church, hears "Allah" being used in a sermon, may mistake the church as a mosque, enter it and be converted to Christianity! Hahaha!

Allah is simply the generic Arabic word for God. Long before Islam was founded, the people in Arabia - polytheists, Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians - used Allah to refer to God, however it means to them. So Islam has no patent on the word 'Allah'. When I was in Egypt, the Christians there (about 10% of the pop) used Allah to refer to their Christian God. The Arabic translation of the Christian Bible in the Middle East also uses 'Allah' for God.
