SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, speaking at a lantern festival celebration in Ang Mo Kio on Saturday, said the country's economy is in a stable position as it has passed the most difficult part of the economic downturn.
He added that Singapore's economy will be all right this year and even better next year.
Turning to cultural festivities, Mr Lee said it is important for the community to come together to celebrate events like the Mid-Autumn Festival because they are essential in bonding the community together.
On a separate note, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong told reporters at the Formula 1 Pit Building in the circuit park on Saturday that Singapore could continue to host the F1 Grand Prix beyond the five-year contract.
He said the night race, which kicked off last year, helps in the branding of Singapore and attracts tourists to the country.
