Is Lim ChinSiong the true father of Sinkingpore?

Yes, hopefully a fair balanced book warts and all, between pro Chin Siong (Comet, Tan Jing Quee) and non pro Chin Siong (Lee's Lieutenants, Lam Peng Er).

I think Chin Siong is a worthy subject for a book from academia but I know it will not happen while the old man is here.

Yes. When you read books on leaders such as Sukarno, Churchill, etc, you can see the balance - wart and all, weaknesses , strengths and not selective memory etc.

This is something that I find lacking in Singapore.

Ah yes I recall in the old forum some chap's wife kindly informed us of this possibility. Also covering who was the creator of BEES:cool:
Yes, thats the one. She sounded balanced and sincere. It will be good lessons for our budding future opposition leaders.

David Marshall failed to secure independence for Singapore. How to be "father" of Singapore? If there's a title for "architect" of Singapore, it should go to the professional architect Ong Teng Cheong, the mastermind behind Changi Airport and MRT.

(Bearing in mind that Changi Airport taxes and MRT fares are so high nowadays have nothing to with him. At least his vision gave us the infrastruture.)

Anyway, why are you running away to HK when I come back to Singapore? You still owe me some treats.

Dear Ramseth,

How could a Nation be totally defined by an infrastructure like Changi Airport? The Architect of Singapore is mainly a bigger word other than building of infrastructures. It involves economic planning, financial strategies and such. It involves the 4 pillars of a Nation, Economics, Politics, Social and Culture settings. In terms of Singapore emphasis is put on Economics but some of the Economics planning has implications on Social and Political settings; eg. CPF, HDB racial policy...etc.

As I have mentioned, its not really about "success" but rather the spiritual leadership in envisioning the possibility of a Nation called Singapore for this island. All other politicians only saw the difficulties in having an independent Singapore while David Marshall was the only prominent politician that has such vision of an INDEPENDENT Singapore as a viable entity! And I bet he was the only one who would be HAPPY when Singapore declared Independence, unlike some others who would weep and cry over it!

I mean, it was quite amazing. For many colonies to declare independence, I think Singapore is very unique when its "leaders" CRIED over having gained independence from the colonists! Independence has been celebrated by Commonwealth colonies all over the world, save and except Singapore!

Its just like having a father that does not want the baby. ;)

Goh Meng Seng

Exactly, that's why there shouldn't be any "father" of Singapore.
