Alamak bro, all fine until I heard Chee's voice. He still trying to wrap himself with the likes of JBJ, Chin Siong, Francis etc. He needs to first learn to gather the crowd, get the votes instead of continuing to associate himself with the great man of the past.

Chee and Chin Siong are worlds apart. Chin Siong could resonate with the man on the ground. Just because old man hated Chin Siong , does not automatically place Chee on the same platform. Lets be realistic. This thing with associating with Gandhi, Mandela, Chin Siong is getting ridiculous.

Goh Keng Swee wasn't even born in Singapore, and he laid no such claim as he humbly and loyalty acted as Lee Kuan Yew's deputy.

I don't really fancy the idea anybody claiming or being claimed to be the so-called Father of Singapore. Sounds like the Nazi Fuhrer Adolf Hitler. If one must, then perhaps the first President Yusof Ishak.

Everybody loves him so much and carries multiple portraits of him around, can't do without some of his portraits in pockets wallets and purses.

I could hear the "fury" in Dr Chee's voice as he questioned and saw his questions deemed irrelevant. Strictly speaking of course, since he had been found guilty and the excerpt in question was only to determine the extent and the damages due because of that guilt, the questions of the "integrity" or not not arising.

History will record that Dr Chee outmanuvered CST for the leadership of the SDP just as LKY did with LCS for the PAP. The only difference being the end result for both politicians with one making his mark on history and the other perhaps being a footnote at best.

Strange isn't it a "footnote" trying to resserrect another more substantive player in history who lost so that the "winner" loses his credibility and place in history. History should be debated and analyzed and "what ifed" to death by pundits commentators and historians spilling ink not blood.

If a politician should spill blood , it should be to win votes and not spill both ink and blood being a historian. As stated in another post, LKY is a frakking vampire and all that these debates over history does is to reinforce his position as "father" of the nation. Just render the vampire irrelevant by telling him to go tend the garden.

However that has not stopped him from trying to preserve his legacy first with his well plugged memoirs and now the LKY School, not forgetting his never ending presence on the political landscape.

Also you are right about Dr Goh. A man of gravitas, intellect and substance who never sought the limelight. Just got on with doing the job of ensuring Singapore's survival, growth and development.

Interesting that the slideshow did not show a slide of LKY and Chin Siong together before they fell out. When I saw the slide of Marshall with Chin Siong I thought of the often narrated first introduction when LKY introduced Chin Siong to Marshall who was then PM by saying "this is the future PM", wow more like the kiss of death Also when I saw the slide of TT Rajah, I thought of Lenin and Trotsky the local version i.e. LKY and Chin Siong!

If Changi Airport was to bear the name of an illuminary, Ong Teng Cheong outranked Lee Kuan Yew by quite a distance. No statue and no portrait on currency notes and postal stamps, yes. But what about the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarships?

David Marshall failed to secure independence for Singapore. How to be "father" of Singapore? If there's a title for "architect" of Singapore, it should go to the professional architect Ong Teng Cheong, the mastermind behind Changi Airport and MRT.

For a man who is calculative and measures his words, that comment tells a lot about Chin Siong. Dennis "Trojan" Bloodworth compared Chin Siong to Sukarno where the ability to draw a crowd and mesmerise them.

I think Chin Siong is a worthy subject for a book from academia but I know it will not happen while the old man is here.
